Group Order Cost Split

Enter the order price and the extra costs, how many each person takes, and see what each person pays.

Work out the split

Use this when a group buys albums or small goods together and shares the cost. Everything is worked out on this device. Names and amounts are not saved or sent. Agree on the way you split with the others first.

Amounts are worked out to two decimals (cents).

  1. Person 1
  2. Person 2

Example

For a $300 order with $5 domestic shipping, $20 international shipping, $5 packing and a $10 fee, the whole cost is $340.00. If one person takes 2 albums and 6 extras and the other takes 1 album and 4 extras, sharing by albums and extras together gives $209.24 and $130.76, with the extra cent paid by the organizer. Press “Load an example” to try it.

How it works

The price and every extra cost are added together and shared in proportion to the number each person takes. You can count albums only, extras only, or both together. The numbers handed out cannot be more than the totals you bought, and the ones left over are shown.

What an album is worth compared with an extra is for the group to agree on, so choose the basis first. Leftover cents go to the organizer, or are added from the first person (rounded up) or from the last person (rounded down).

Frequently asked questions

What should I count as an extra?

Count anything that comes with or in addition to the main item, such as cards or stickers. If everyone should pay the same for each extra, choose “Albums and extras together”.

What if someone takes nothing?

A person who takes none of the item you share by pays nothing. At least one person needs a number above 0.

Does it handle a refund or a lost item?

No. It splits the cost you enter at the time of the order. Settle later changes by hand with the group.
