How the days are counted

Frequently asked questions

Why do Korean couples celebrate 100 days?

Korean couples often mark their relationship in days, not just years. The 100-day mark (백일, baegil) is the best-known, followed by 200, 300 and 1,000 days.

Is the first day counted as day 1 or day 0?

In Korea the day you start dating counts as day 1, the same way a baby’s 100th day is counted from the day of birth. So the 100th day is 99 days after you started.

What is “tutu” (투투)?

The 22nd day. “Tu” sounds like “two”, so 22 is called two-two.
