Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum purchase for a tax refund in Korea?

₩15,000 on a single receipt, tax included. Separate receipts can’t be added together to reach it.

What is an instant tax refund?

At participating stores, you pay the price minus the tax right away. Each receipt must be under ₩1,000,000, and your instant refunds since arriving can total up to ₩5,000,000.

How much will I actually get back?

Korea’s VAT is 10%, so the tax inside a price is at most 1/11 of it. Refund companies deduct approved fees, so you get back less than that.

Do I need to take the goods out of Korea?

Yes, within 3 months of buying them.
