Example
In a 10 × 12 ft room (120 × 144 in), a desk that needs 28 in in front for its chair and a dresser that needs 16 in for its drawers both have enough room in the example layout. Move the desk in front of the door and the tool warns about the door swing.
How it works
Enter the room size, which wall the door is on, how far it is from the start of that wall, its width and type. For each piece of furniture enter its size, the position of its top-left corner, which way its front faces and how much space it needs in front for drawers, doors or a chair.
The tool warns when furniture sticks out of the room, pieces overlap, something sits in the door’s path, or the space in front of a piece runs into a wall, another piece or the door swing. It also lists how much clear space each front has. Comfortable walking room depends on you, so the tool does not judge it.
Frequently asked questions
What is front space?
The room you need in front of the furniture to use it: opening drawers or wardrobe doors, or pulling out a desk chair.
How do I place a piece against the right wall?
Set “From left” to the room width minus the furniture’s width (or depth if it faces left or right).
Does it check walkways?
It checks the door and front spaces only. Leave enough room to walk that feels right for you.
