Example

On a 24 × 14 × 8 in shelf, six 6 × 6 × 4 in containers fit with room to spare, but a 10 in tall jar does not fit on any shelf, and the tool says so.

How it works

Enter each shelf’s usable width, depth and height and each container size and quantity. The tool places containers flat, largest first, in rows from the back of the shelf to the front, turning them if you allow it. You can keep space clear at the front (door bins, shelf lips) and the back (cold-air vents).

Containers that do not fit are listed with the reason: taller than every shelf, bigger than the shelf floor, or no room left. Containers that touch the shelf above are flagged because lids may be hard to open. It is a simple layout, not the best possible packing, and it does not stack containers.

Frequently asked questions

Why do fewer fit than I expected?

The simple row-by-row layout can leave gaps. Real packing by hand may fit a few more.

Should I leave space at the back?

Many fridges blow cold air from the back. Blocking it can make cooling uneven, so leaving a little room is a common choice.

Does it stack containers?

No, every container sits on the shelf floor.
