Blanket Washing Check
Choose what the care label says, what the blanket is filled with and how it fits in the drum, and see whether it can be machine washed.
See if it can be washed
Answer a few questions about the blanket and your washing machine to see whether it can be machine washed, and what to check first. The tool goes by the care label, your manual and how it fits in the drum, not by kilograms. Nothing you choose is saved or sent.
Example
A blanket with a machine-washable label and polyester fill, where the manual allows blanket washing, there is a blanket cycle and the folded blanket leaves room in the drum, comes out as “You can machine wash it if you follow the conditions”, with four washing steps. Press “Load an example” to try it.
How it works
The tool goes by the care label first, then by what your machine’s manual says, then by how the blanket actually fits in the drum. It does not use kilograms, because the weight of a wet blanket cannot be told from the machine’s rated capacity.
If the label says hand wash only or no water, or there is no label, the tool does not suggest the machine. If the drum is packed, a larger machine such as one at a laundromat is better than forcing it in.
Frequently asked questions
Can I decide by the machine’s kilogram rating?
Not reliably. A wet blanket weighs and spreads differently from the clothes the rating is based on, so go by the label, the manual and how it fits in the drum.
Why does the spin shake so much with a blanket?
A wet blanket can shift to one side. Pause the machine, wait until the drum stops, and spread the blanket out evenly again.
Can I put it in the dryer?
Check the tumble-dry symbol on the care label separately. A thick winter blanket may not dry well in a home dryer.
