Example
For a door 210 cm high and 90 cm wide, sealing all four sides with 10% extra, you cut 99, 231, 231 and 99 cm, which is 660 cm. With 5 m rolls that is 2 rolls. Press “Load an example” to try it.
How it works
Each side’s length plus your extra allowance is rounded up to a whole centimeter and cut from the roll. Pieces are packed onto as few rolls as possible, and a side longer than a roll is joined from more than one piece.
It is a reference only. It compares each gap with the range printed on the product, and does not judge insulation, soundproofing or fire-door performance.
Frequently asked questions
How much extra length should I allow?
Allow a little extra on each side so you can trim the ends to fit; the tool adds the percentage you enter to every side and rounds up to a whole centimeter. Leave it blank to allow none. Cutting each side from the roll as a separate piece is assumed.
How do I measure the gap?
With the door closed, measure the widest gap along the top, each side and the bottom in millimeters. Enter it for each side you seal, and enter the range of gaps your product suits if it is printed on the pack. A gap that is too narrow for a thick product can stop the door from closing, and one that is too wide may not seal fully.
What about the bottom of the door?
The bottom edge drags on the floor and takes the most wear, so a product made for door bottoms is often used there. Check the product’s directions, and after fitting open and close the door several times and make sure it latches.
